Tesoro Athlete of the Year

On May 19, Tesoro honored many Titans in its twenty-second annual Senior Awards. Including one of the four individual and most prestigious awards being Athlete of the Year. 


This goes to the student believed, by a committee of Tesoro’s staff, to be the most decorated, outstanding, deserving and athletic athlete in its respective class. 


The finalists are as follows: Kelcie Bolling, Karah Li, Sa’rai Cannon, Loula-Rae McNamara and Griffin Kushen. These finalists were each honored for their achievements in Flag Football and Lacrosse, Tennis, Track & Field, Softball, and Cross Country and Track & Field, respectively.


Kelcie Bolling, played both Flag Football and Lacrosse;

-2023 1st Team All League (Flag Football)

-2024 2nd Team All League (Flag Football)

-2023 1st Team All Sea View League (Lacrosse)

-2024 All Sea View League MVP (Lacrosse)

-Played on Women’s Development National Team (Lacrosse

- Committed to Fort Lewis College (Lacrosse)


Karah Li, Tennis, Also named Scholar of Scholars;

-2021 South Coast League Single Champion

-2021 CIF D3 Team Champion

-2022 South Coast League Singles Champion

-2022 CIF D1 Team Champion

-Committed to Johns Hopkins University


Sa’rai Cannon, Track & Field;

-2024 1st Team All Sea View League (Triple Jump)

-2024 CIF Qualifier (Triple Jump)

-2025 South Coast League Champion (Triple Jump)

-2025 All County Recognition (Triple Jump)

-Headed to 2025 CIF qualifiers On May 24th (Triple Jump

-#3 all-time mark in Triple Jump

-#10 all-time mark in Long Jump


Loula-Rae McNamara, Softball;

-2022 1st Team All Sea View League (Freshman)

-2022 Sea View League Champion 

-2023 1st Team All South Coast League

-2024 All South Coast League MVP

-2024 South Coast League Champion

-2024 1st Team All CIF

-2024 All Orange County 1st Team

-2024 All State Honorable Mention

-2025 1st Team All South Coast League (Most Likely)

-All Time Wins Leader in Tesoro Softball history

-Committed to Boise State University


Ultimately, Griffin Kushen was named Athlete of the Year. He is a member of the Boys Cross Country and Track & Field team. He is to be considered one of the greatest runners in school history. Holding many records, his resume backs it up. 


At Tesoro he accomplished;

-CIF Southern Section Champion, recorded the #1 FASTEST time for ALL Runners across all

5 Divisions.. The winning time of 14:38 was also a Mt. San Antonio College course record.

-Set a school record for 3 miles at the prestigious Woodbridge Invitational, running a blistering 13:59.

-Clovis Invitational Runner Up- Over 2,500 runners competed.

-California State Cross Country Championship-D-2 Runner-up 

-One of only five runners in California selected to compete at Nike Cross Nationals (NXN).

-(4:09.02 1600M), which, as of March 23rd, is the third fastest time in the United States for outdoor Track Season

-Arcadia Invitational - 4/14 - 4:08.92 1600m - School

Record

-1st Team All County-OC Register (3 years in a row)

-Holds all Tesoro XC course records and distance track records

-CIF Academic Male Athlete of the Year

-Committed to Duke University
