Spring Musical Revealed: SpongeBob SquarePants

During halftime of the first Comedy Sportz match, the Tesoro Theater Arts Program announced SpongeBob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical as the spring musical.

SpongeBob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical portrays Nickelodeon's famous SpongeBob and friends as they work together to save Bikini Bottom from the volcanic eruption of Mt. Humongous before it's too late.

The musical is tailored for all ages and is filled with humor and fun. If you like SpongeBob and funny TV shows, then this musical is a must-see.

“This show is pure joy and fun for two hours. We have really creative, funny, talented students this year that will be able to bring these quirky characters to life. The show has huge production numbers in all different musical styles,” said Director Cheryl Des Palmes.

The music track for this musical includes songs by David Bowie and Brian Eno, Cyndi Lauper and Rob Hyman, Lady Antebellum, Panic! At The Disco, and John Legend, among others.

Auditions are open to the whole school and will happen the week after Thanksgiving break. There will be an informational meeting on how to audition on Oct. 24 during tutorial and lunch.

“I’m looking forward to creating the set design and effects. I like that we can portray the characters in our own way,” said student Hailey Curtis

“I’m most excited for costumes because they're going to be unique and it stands out. We can literally make dresses out of anything, said the costume design manager, Aurora.

The theater arts program hopes that Spongebob Squarepants: The Broadway Musical will bring out the creativity and fun side of what theater is all about.
