New College and Career Center Opens at Tesoro

With the senior class of 2023 currently planning their life after high school - college applications and career pursuit - many often need support or feedback on their plans. Fortunately, the College and Career Center is ready to assist.

Led by College and Career Counselor Nicole Rengifo, the center focuses on aiding students through the application process of college and other career pathways, as well as offering personalized feedback. Each student explains their need and what they need feedback on, and Mrs. Rengifo guides the student throughout the process.

“More often, we help with college applications and essay feedback for seniors applying for colleges,” Mrs. Rengifo points out. “But we also help with career pathways and financial aid among other forms of support for the students that come in.”

Located next to the Library, the College and Career Center is open to those who set appointments ahead of time. The center is only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the available times, so scheduling and planning is necessary for those looking for the assistance.

“Since I’m balancing this for both Tesoro and Dana Hills, I’m only here [at Tesoro] on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” adds Mrs. Rengifo. “I’m at Dana Hills on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.”

With the limited availability and upcoming college applications due, it is crucial seniors take advantage of this opportunity and utilize this new resource. As the whole process of entering college and the workforce can be overwhelming for many students, the College and Career Center can greatly help those looking for guidance towards this significant next step in their lives.

Wishing all seniors good luck on their career choices and college applications - and decisions - in the coming months ahead!
