Tesoro’s Girls Volleyball finished their 2024 season with a record of 18-7, securing their second-place ranking in the Sea View League and a spot in the Southern Section Division 2 CIF Playoffs.
The girls’ 2024 season remains highly successful. The team had the program's best win percentage in over ten years: 69%. They were only one set away from winning the Sea View League champions title, and they secured their spot in the playoffs.
Tesoro was knocked out of the South Coast League this year after taking last place in the league a season ago. They entered the newly revamped Sea View League, which for the first time in history, consisted of five teams, including the newly added Beckman Patriots. This change was made in all sports in reaction to Beckman’s dominance in the Pacific Coast League the previous year. For Tesoro, this meant they would have to go up against this powerhouse program, which has won every league title since 2018.
Tesoro had a record of 6-0 against teams other than Beckman, and all they needed to do was win one of their two games against the Patriots to capture the coveted league title. With the Tesoro girls on the road, Beckman proved powerful, winning 3-0 during the first game. But with the Tesoro girls at home, victory seemed hopeful. The Titans kept it close and forced a 5th set, but they couldn’t pull it off and walked out with a second loss against Beckman, resulting in their second-place finish.
Following the season, Junior Libero Audrey Tran stated, “Our team had a great season. We all experienced ups and downs together as a team. Coach Polk and Coach Pat definitely contributed to our success and made a huge impact on our season.”
Despite their final defeat against Beckman, the girl’s 2024 volleyball season was a great success and they look forward to many more great seasons in the future.
