With the new school year, there have been a few changes to Tesoro, including moving the student section and replacing tutorial with Titan Time.
For starters, the student section during football games has been moved. Instead of being next to the concessions, ASB set up the student section to the far side of the stands, closer to the junior parking lot. This also means that the reserved parents section is now beside the student section. With this new rearrangement, Administration aims to prevent people from congregating near the food area and blocking the path to the bathrooms and exit. Additionally, they hope the new arrangement will allow for a quicker exit from the track for students who have parked in the junior and senior lots.
Tutorial, renamed to Titan Time, has changed to a new program, a software called Enriching Students. Enriching Students allows for students to reserve their spots in Titan Time for the week. Students who fail to sign up, or do not attend the class they signed up for, will be sent to administration. Students can access reservations for their week starting from Friday at lunch and lasting until the upcoming Monday during Titan Time. If a student had hoped to make any changes to their schedule later on in the week, he or she would have the opportunity to do so up until midnight of the day that precedes the changed Titan Time. Additionally, students may only go to the Titan Time of a teacher they currently have a class with.
Students have been asking for a different form of parking pass, especially due to the tendency of last year’s stickers to stick permanently to the windshield. Students last year complained that they must be scraped off with a tool or scraper, and still left residue on the car. Administration listened to the feedback, and has distributed parking passes that hang on the rearview mirror. Additionally, there are new requirements for bike stickers, which act as a parking pass for the bike racks.
New bathroom passes have been implemented to stop roaming during class. Each classroom is allocated a bathroom pass with a specific color, representing which bathrooms can be used. If proctors find a student in the wrong area, they can write a referral.
Lastly, there is a new opportunity to take the SAT on Monday, Oct. 14 in the Tesoro main gym. Tesoro has worked to create a Tesoro exclusive test-taking date on site. The October test date is primarily aimed for seniors and juniors. There is also an SAT date on Monday, March 3, targeted at sophomores and freshmen. These SAT seats are limited, and it is advised to reserve a seat as early as possible. The registration for the October date is currently open and closes on Monday, Sept. 9.
